Awakyn App:
SCOPE: RESEARCH, STRATEGY, UX & UI DESIGN FOR MOBILE APP, BRANDING AND MERCHANDISE
Awakyn, crafted by Arko, is a social experiment card game designed to push boundaries and spark meaningful connections.
Our mission was to translate this unique concept into a dynamic app that encourages real-life conversations beyond the typical transactional online culture. We conducted comprehensive UX research, developed a seamless UX/UI design, and refreshed the branding to align with the target audience, ensuring a fun, intuitive, and secure user experience.
Colors, Icons and Branding Elements:
Our Process
1 - CONTEXTUAL RESEARCH & COMPETATIVE USABILITY TESTING
To better understand how people engage with our card game, we conducted contextual research at events designed to foster meaningful connections between strangers. Additionally, we carried out competitive usability testing by observing interactions while playing popular games like Cards Against Humanity and Heads Up at similar social gatherings.
2 - SIMULATIVE RESEARCH
Having understood why people are drawn to the game, we shifted focus to how users engage with it when playing alone, especially when seeking connection. We explored how they interact with the app at home, particularly when prompted to answer vulnerable, intimate questions with someone they can't see or know. This required thinking outside the box to observe natural reactions in these scenarios.
DAY BREAKER
SIMULATION NUMBER 1
We conducted two setups at the event:
Strangers were paired to play the game back-to-back, without seeing each other, to observe how anonymity influenced interactions.
DAY BREAKER
SIMULATION NUMBER 2
Another group of strangers played face-to-face, allowing us to compare how direct visibility impacted their engagement.
